Thank you for this. I've always had an affinity for Die Hard and rewatching it every Christmas Eve for the past decade(?) or so it's been apparent that there's a Christian message at the heart of the story. I think there's a nostalgic tug at the heart about how that used to just be the nature of art and film in the west. Self sacrifice, masculine heroism, love of family, redemption. Plus it's a genuinely excellent movie, the cinematography, the acting, the special effects, the interplay between the characters (villains on the inside and villains outside) adds a level of complexity that I would not have appreciated on my first viewing.
I had never seen Die Hard as Kid. (My parents actually enforced rating system)
Viewing it as an adult I always assumed it was overhyped based on the terrible sequels.
But when I did eventually watch it I found it to be so refreshingly wholesome. Yes, its an action movie filled with vulgarity and violence. But the message is so wonderfully wholesome. Pro-family and pro-masculine hero.
Banger. Daniel Penny is the real life John McClane. Merry Christmas, OGC!
Thank you Ryan. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Love this piece! I agree 💯!
Yippee ki-aa Mother F-ers!
