"Through 250 years of national history, some stories have been forgotten. They patiently wait their turn for a curious mind to come find them, polish them off, and put them back on the mantel of glory for all to see."
If I may offer a proposal for these kinds of welcome and healthy articles about our heritage and our pioneer/explorer/settler ancestry. We discredit and limit Our claims on Our land by limiting it to the founding of the long dead Republic. The story starts in 1492 when Europeans got in galleys and sailed the winds to and around two entirely unknown continents and began their taming and settlement.
America, South Africa, Latin America and the Carribbean go back to 1492. For America, we have nearly two hundred years of the history of our settlements if we count only the English. If we count our European Spanish and French heritage we have over 500 years of history on this land to reference.
This is critical as the longer and deeper we speak of and establish those roots in Our minds and those of Our children the longer and deeper Our enemies have to cut in order to abrogate Our claims on Our land. That is the real effort here. We have been here for a long time, and Our history predates the republic just at it must outlast the collapsing empire.
Lewis, Clark and their men are Men of Power who we of the Cascade Frontier see traces of every day and shall never forget
Excellent take on the task before us:
