Defining what "winning" looks like would be an ideal speech topic for an Old Glory Club conference. We all know what it means in the abstract, but what does it look like in a tangible sense?
It's crazy how much push back you're getting for the idea of realipolitik and achieving something. People would rather be noble failures than successful
I’m not gonna lie I went into this article skeptical but I think you’ve made a very good point in treading the line of honoring the dead/losing side and not becoming defeatists.
Yeah - no dishonor to them if we use hindsight to correct some of their errors. It's not like they had our vantage point at the time. They did the hard work of revealing these things, and for our benefit here in the future.
Very good article. Southerners can and should honor their ancestors but honest conversations about why we lost and had our ambitions checked are necessary to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
