One of my goals is to write about letter/correspondence outlines so that most people can write easily.

While I consider myself well-versed in written correspondence, I would love to hear about your thoughts upon the matter.

I am planning on writing a book where part of it is about that. One theory I have developed for the internal structure of a personal letter is four parts of the body: past, future, responses, question. The "past" part is where you talk about things that have already happened, you catch your friend up to speed on what has been going on in your life. The "future" part is about the future - any plans, goals, or upcoming events. "I am planning on traveling next month" etc. The "responses" is the main part where you respond to the previous letter your friend sent you. Answer his questions, critique anything he said, or continue talking about something that he was talking about in the last letter. The "questions" part is where you ask questions to your friend. If you want to bring up a topic of discussion to your friend, you can pose it as a question.
